Copyright & DMCA Policy

1. Software Copyright

StoryVox is copyright © 2026 Gain Publications. All rights reserved. The Software, including its source code, user interface, documentation, graphics, and all associated materials, is the intellectual property of Gain Publications and is protected under United States and international copyright laws.

2. Third-Party Components

StoryVox incorporates the following open-source components, each used in compliance with their respective licenses:

  • Kokoro TTS — AI text-to-speech model (Apache License 2.0)
  • sherpa-onnx — ONNX runtime for speech processing (Apache License 2.0)
  • FFmpeg — Audio encoding and concatenation (LGPLv2.1). FFmpeg source code is available at ffmpeg.org/download.html. FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard.
  • Qt Framework — Application framework (LGPLv2.1). Qt source code is available at qt.io/download-open-source.
  • mp4v2 — M4B cover art embedding (Mozilla Public License 1.1). mp4v2 source code is available at github.com/enzo1982/mp4v2.

This software uses libraries from the FFmpeg project under the LGPLv2.1. This software uses the Qt Framework under the LGPLv2.1. This software uses mp4v2 under the Mozilla Public License 1.1. Full license texts are available at the links above. All third-party trademarks and component names are the property of their respective owners.

3. Your Content

You retain full ownership and copyright of any text you input into StoryVox and any audiobooks you produce using the Software. Gain Publications claims no rights to your content. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to convert any text into audio format.

4. Generated Audio Rights

Audio generated by StoryVox using the included AI voices is yours to use, distribute, and monetize. You may publish audiobooks created with StoryVox on any platform, sell them commercially, or use them for any lawful purpose. No royalties or attribution to Gain Publications are required for audio output you create.

5. Prohibited Uses of the Software

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of the StoryVox software itself. The license you purchase grants usage rights — not the right to copy, modify, or redistribute the application, its code, or its bundled voice models.

6. DMCA Notice — Copyright Infringement Claims

Gain Publications respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that content generated using StoryVox or content displayed on our website infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Your DMCA notice must include:

  1. A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  2. A description of where the allegedly infringing material is located
  3. Your contact information (name, address, telephone number, email)
  4. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  5. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf
  6. Your physical or electronic signature

7. Counter-Notification

If you believe that material you posted was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to the address above. Your counter-notification must include your contact information, identification of the material that was removed, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district.

8. Repeat Infringers

Gain Publications reserves the right to terminate the licenses of users who are found to be repeat infringers of copyright.
